Nearly 200 health care professionals from Commonwealth Care Alliance and Commonwealth Community Care came together last Friday for the Eighth Annual Senior Care Options (SCO) Program Clinical Best Practice Development Conference. Held at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel and Conference Center, the event was an accredited educational activity presented by Commonwealth Care Alliance and Boston University School of Medicine. Presenters discussed the Habilitation Model in managing challenging behaviors, how to identify alcohol and substance use in seniors, patient safety in skilled nursing facilities, and strategies for implementing best practices in transforming primary care.

Judy Sklare, Senior Care Options Program Director at Commonwealth Care Alliance, called the event “an extremely positive day.” She explained that the clinicians she talked to “felt that the information they got from the conference was so relevant to their day-to-day practice that they would be able to immediately implement new and constructive strategies with their members.”
