The Fall 2015 edition of CommonWealth magazine contains a piece by John McDonough of the Harvard School of Public Health on the importance of the One Care program and the groundbreaking work of Commonwealth Care Alliance CommonWealth(CCA).

In describing CCA’s “unorthodox mission as a health plan only for duals,” McDonough states that, unlike for-profit healthcare organizations that get involved in duals demonstrations, “the nonprofit Commonwealth Care Alliance stands out for its consumer/patient engagement, its team-based care model, and its mission.” McDonough also describes the challenges facing CCA and other duals programs but calls on state and federal officials to “stay the course” on One Care, asserting that “positive returns are appearing and going backwards makes no sense.”
